| Northeastern University has been awarded $345,468 in Community Outreach Partnership Centers Program (COPC) funding to serve three Roxbury neighborhoods. These neighborhoods are part of the City of Boston's Empowerment Zone. Activities to be undertaken include formalization of a community organization process to help faculty and neighborhood residents work together; design and construction of mixed income housing; and creation of a Merchant Academy, a family-based business development center. In addition, a technology transfer center will be established under the direction of Professor Michael Dukakis to join new ideas emanating from the University's research with businesses seeking to create or improve ways to produce goods and services for domestic and world-wide markets.
