| Portland State University (PSU) has been awarded $399,942 in Community Outreach Partnership Centers Program (COPC) funding to establish a COPC located in North/Northeast Portland at Cascade Plaza, a small business incubator operated by the Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs. The University will work with the Albina community, part of the City's Enterprise Community, to provide economic development training for commercial revitalization; offer business mentoring and technical assistance for small business development; and provide a range of family care services. The projects to be undertake arise from the community's own Albina Community Plan which serves as the framework for defining community priorities and COPC project activities. The COPC grant will also enable the University to create the kinds of community-based teaching and learning opportunities required by PSU's curriculum and mission for students and faculty at both the undergraduate and graduate/professional levels.
