| A consortium of the University of California at Berkeley, San Francisco State University, and Stanford University will provide assistance to five communities in the Bay area. Activities include: development of the consolidated housing plan for the San Francisco; capacity building for economic development and service integration for the Oakland neighborhoods of West Oakland, San Antonio, and Central East Oakland; establishment of a homeless health care project in the Southside neighborhood of Berkeley; start up of the Stanford Community Development Research Institute to promote new grassroots organizations; and developmental work to establish a partnership between University of California at Berkeley and the city of Richmond.
Each community has a special and distinct relationship with its university partner and activities will be implemented using these existing partnerships. The University of California at Berkeley has been awarded $580,000 for its COPC.
