Overview
Stillman College intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to address the economic and social needs of residents in the target areas of West Tuscaloosa and Eutaw, Alabama, through technology, community-based programs, and cooperative partnerships. This grant will allow Stillman to continue providing residents in these targeted areas with job readiness training, job search and job placement assistance, healthcare, crime reduction, community security/safety, homeownership, small business development and entrepreneurship, family affairs, fair housing, and financial management to move them toward self-sufficiency. The college will also acquire two parcels of property to complete the Model Neighborhood of Affordable Homes for first-time homeowners. The neighborhood will become a model that can be replicated in other neighborhoods in Alabama.
