| The University of Florida, in partnership with Santa Fe Community College, will establish an urban, inner city extension service. The program will be involved in four specific initiatives in the East Gainesville community: plans for a small business incubator and other business development activities; neighborhood improvement, homeownership support and assistance in rehabilitation; update of the Consolidated Housing and Community Development Plan for the City of Gainesville; and social service delivery coordination in the target community and establishment of youth and family resource centers.
The program will use the cooperative extension model which is based on the use of education, training, and technical assistance to create independence, self-sufficiency, and empowerment for residents.
