| The University of Illinois Chicago Campus will capitalize on the economic and social strengths of two Chicago neighborhoods -- Pilsen and Near West Side. The COPC will: develop an Affordable Housing Coalition to help neighborhood Community Development Corporations (CDCs) expand their capacity; create a university hiring and purchasing community linkage program to link university procurement to neighborhood businesses; develop a Careers Awareness Program for neighborhood youth, including a work study program and curriculum enhancement; working with the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA), implement an entrepreneurial development program for project adults; and Implement a Parent Leadership program.
The COPC will be working extensively with neighborhood institutions -- schools, a community college, CDCs, and CHA to implement this program.
