| The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) intends to use its COPC New Directions grant for planning an environmental initiative in the Columbia Point community. This project will include capacity-building workshops for people who live, work, and learn at Columbia Point so that they can develop skills to effectively participate in comprehensive planning process and community arts and gardening initiatives. The university will develop an on-site sustainable community resource center that will serve as a vehicle for long-term university-community partnerships not only with the Columbia Point community, but also with other Boston neighborhoods as well.
