| The University of Michigan-Flint has been awarded $399,363 in Community Outreach Partnership Centers Program (COPC) funding to work with the North Flint Twenty-First Century Communities organization and the Flint Community Schools to work toward community development in one section of the Flint Area Enterprise Community. Proposed activities include: creation of a partnership with elementary school children and parents to promote the importance of education; development of new mechanisms for involving parents and residents as educational reform; and design of a database on the community's assets. The overriding goal of the program is to conduct activities which address the needs of the community, with the community as an active partner and owner of process and methods when the COPC grant ends.
