Overview
Yale University will work in partnership with neighborhood organizations in the Dwight, West Rock, and Elm Haven neighborhoods of New Haven. In the first two neighborhoods, Yale will assist the local police substation management teams and in the third neighborhood, it will work with a resident council involved in the Public Housing HOPE VI program. The university also will be working with several city-wide organizations. Activities include: developinhg management plans for tenant control of a public housing development; providing staffing and support for neighborhood-based initiatives; promoting the integration of education and human services for families in urban neighborhoods; organizing short-term initiatives that bring the university and the neighborhoods together for clean up projects; and working with the Private Industry Council to implement a system-wide client eligibility and information system.

In addition, Yale will create an Urban Partnership Graduate Fellows program and an Urban Partnership Community Fellows program to provide project-specific assistance by graduate and professional students for neighborhood-based and city-wide organizations.
