| University of Washington (UW) College of Architecture and Urban Planning (CAUP) intends to use its COPC Futures Demonstration grant to engage faculty and students in housing for the recently settled Hispanic communities of Toppenish/Granger in the Yakima Valley. In partnership with the builder, Diocese of Yakima Housing Services, CAUP will pursue a program of community-based investigation, collaboration design, on-site learning, and evaluation that effectively establishes case study housing designs and housing models for this underserved population of the Yakima Valley. This program will also establish a methodology of service learning for other universities and design professions.
