Overview
Alabama A&M University (AAMU) intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Category II grant to strengthen its relationship, involvement, and effectiveness in addressing community development needs in Edmonton Heights, a Community Development Block Grant neighborhood in northeast Huntsville, Alabama, by implementing its Edmonton Heights Neighborhood Revitalization Phase II program. This program will: 1) provide economic assistance to the AAMU Community Development Corporation (CDC) to carry out Phase II of a revitalization strategy in the Edmonton Heights Neighborhood; and 2) provide economic assistance and human resources directly to the residents in Edmonton Heights to strengthen and stabilize the neighborhood, organize and educate new community leaders, and form a neighborhood association specifically focused on the economic revitalization of Edmonton Heights.
