| The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments (COG), an areawide planning organization (APO), will receive a Community Development Work Study Program grant of $270,000. COG is working with the University of Maryland at College Park, the University of the District of Columbia, and George Mason University to provide a wide variety of work placement assignments to students studying in the community-building field in the Washington Metropolitan area.
The three participating area universities are fully accredited, and each academic program leads directly to careers associated with the community-building field, including community planning, public administration, and urban economics. These universities will provide students challenging courses and practical application in planning, public finance, management and administration.
