| The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), in partnership with a range of community-based organizations in Lawrence, will use its Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) New Grant to focus on the City of Lawrence, a troubled but vital former industrial center with the most heavily Latino population in New England. The program will address three areas of urgent community need where the university can have a measurable impact, build upon previous institutional investments in the city, and expand its burgeoning expertise in servicelearning. These areas include promoting affordable rental and homeownership housing production; asset-building as an economic and community development strategy; and creating youth pathways to education, career, and community.
