Overview
The H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management at Carnegie Mellon University has received a $90,000 Community Development Work Study Program (CDWSP) grant to assist minority and economically disadvantaged students in its Master of Science in Public Policy and Management program. The Heinz School provides a rigorous educational experience, including required courses in economics, statistics, management science, organizations/politics, management communications, information technology, financial management, and regional and economic development, and practical experience through project courses and the CDWSP work placement assignments. The Heinz School also offers opportunities to the CDWSP students through several applied policy centers. Central to the students' experience and support is the Center for Economic Development. The Heinz School also has close associations with a wide range of governmental and nonprofit agencies involved in community and economic development to provide work placements for students. These agencies include the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development, Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership, and the Urban League of Pittsburgh.
