| Since 1991 Eastern Washington University's Department of Urban and Regional Planning has benefited from Community Development Work Study Program grants. Students supported by the grant are assigned to a variety of work placement agencies with a minimum of three assignments over the 2-year period. Approximately 40 area agencies accept placement of interns. They include city planning departments, Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest Indians, a housing authority, and the Spokane Historic Preservation Office. The graduate curriculum is designed to train competent planning and community development professionals.
