Overview
The University of New Mexico has been awarded an $87,000 Community Development Work Study Program (CDWSP) grant to assist economically disadvantaged and minority students. The Community and Regional Planning Program at the University of New Mexico offers the only graduate planning program in New Mexico. The program's excellence results from a curriculum that emphasizes the art of building community at a local scale and within regions, a holistic analysis of natural systems, and a context that encourages peer support and team based learning focused on actual cases and communities. CDWSP fellows will be exposed to the complex work world of community planning through in depth and meaningful internship experiences.

Students who are awarded a CDWSP grant will choose from a minimum of nine different work place assignments. These include the Bernalillo County Planning, Policy and Development Department, the City of Albuquerque City Council, and the South Valley Small Business Development Center.
