| Florida State University (FSU) intends to use its Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) grant toward improvement of the Southside neighborhoods of Tallahassee. Residents are more likely to live in poverty, be unemployed, live in substandard housing, and have their children attend low-performing schools. The FSU COPC will focus on key Southside problems: economic development, housing and neighborhood revitalization, infrastructure, and healthcare. FSU will institutionalize its involvement in the community by establishing the FSU COPC at the Orange Avenue Public Housing Development in the city’s Southside and by establishing satellite centers at other HUD-assisted housing or faith-based institutions.
