| Savannah State University will utilize HBCU funds to renovate a neighborhood structure, donated by a local resident, into a community center. The center will house a senior citizens center, a community counseling center, and a site for fair housing educational seminars. The Comprehensive Community Center will provide programs and services to address problems faced by the elderly and at-risk youth. The university will provide technical assistance and expertise to its local community development corporation (CDC) partner, "Save Savannah," to help further the development of this nonprofit. The CDC addresses the needs of residents and minority-owned businesses in the neighborhoods known as Midtown and Cuyler/Brownsville.
