Overview
Alabama State University in Montgomery will receive a Historically Black Colleges and Universities program grant of $499,917 to continue to help improve the lives of the residents of the Centennial Hill Historic District. Under this grant, 64 homes will be rehabilitated to provide affordable housing for low- and moderate-income families. Work will range from minor home repairs to major rehabilitation. In addition, the school will continue partnerships with various city departments to conduct seminars on topics of interest to the community. Topics to be covered include crime prevention, drug awareness, recycling and community clean-up, code violations, and business development.
