| Xavier University of Louisiana will use its URAP-HBCU grant to assist low- and moderate-income residents in the Hollygrove, Gert Town, and the Treme communities in New Orleans. Xavier will work in partnership with New Orleans City Health Department, McDongh #35 High School, Earthwalk, Inc., and the United Negro College Fund Special Programs, Inc., to: establish the Neighborhood Technology and Health Information Center (NTHIC); recruit, train, and track a cadre of volunteers to include service-learning and community service students, faculty, residents, and health professionals; and provide technical assistance related to clearance and demolition for residents, especially the elderly.
