Overview
Dillard University intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Category I grant to help accelerate the post-Katrina recovery and repopulation of one of New Orleans’ most historic neighborhoods. Through this project, Dillard will rehabilitate and renovate a university-owned multi-unit housing facility. The university will bring online 64 units. These units will provide housing for up to 150 students allowing the university to recapture a critical percentage of students that would not otherwise be available to continue enrollment at the institution and assist residents in the Gentilly Community which is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
