| Florida A&M University in Tallahassee will receive a Historically Black Colleges and Universities grant of $500,000 to provide expanded economic development opportunities and empowerment for the Bond/Southside and Greater Frenchtown neighborhoods. The work will be performed by the Big Bend Faith-Based Coalition, of which the university is a member. Some of the activities the Coalition will undertake are: job training and referral services; homeownership counseling; microenterprise development; and comprehensive social, health, and educational service delivery. The overall goal of the project is to address economic, social, housing, and educational needs of these communities, while advancing the university’s service, education, and research missions.
