Overview
Florida A&M University (FAMU) intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to assist in meeting the challenges in the greater communities of Bond/Southside and the historic Frenchtown. This program will work in partnership with neighborhood organizations, residents, and community leadership in an attempt to make the neighborhoods better places to live, work, and conduct business. This effort is composed of the following five programs: rehabilitation of housing for the elderly, historical preservation of commercial buildings, youth leadership, eradication of homelessness in the neighborhood, and capacity building for community and faith-based organizations.
