| The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will receive a Historically Black Colleges and Universities grant of $368,330 to expand the university's role in improving the North Pine Bluff community in which it is located. The project is structured to provide for the long-term revitalization of North Pine Bluff through housing, business development, personal and social development programs, and community empowerment assistance. Project goals are to provide personal development training through mini courses on topics such as finance, credit, and parenting; complete a detailed neighborhood assessment and development plan; ensure operational stability of the Family Community Development Corporation through a subgrant; and provide challenge grants to support enhancements to community businesses. The project represents a coordinated effort of the University, the city of Pine Bluff, the Family Community Development Corporation, and the Pine Bluff Boys and Girls Club.
