Overview
Lemoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tennessee, will use $549,062 in Historically Black Colleges and Universities funds to continue its Project Renaissance program. With decreasing literacy rates, rising unemployment, and deteriorating housing, the target community is in great need of revitalization. The Lemoyne-Owen College Community Development Corporation will conduct four activities related to the Project Renaissance program to address the community's needs. Activities related to capacity building, technical assistance, community development, and economic development will all help to assist the community in achieving its goals of becoming an integral part of the 21st century economy.
