| LeMoyne-Owen College Community Development Corporation (LOC-CDC) intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to implement three new activities through its Project Renaissance IV, a program established with previous HBCU funding. LOC-CDC will use its funding to: strengthen the capacity of the CDC to address the priority needs of the community and the city; assist neighborhood residents by providing access to health and wellness activities and opportunities to receive other community-based services through the Soulsville Multi-Use Community Wellness Public Center Facility, and provide job training and placement, GED classes, homeownership and homebuyers’ education, and entrepreneurship training through the LOC Family Life Center; and acquire 18 vacant lots for the Walker Avenue Residential Corridor, which will yield a combination of town homes and single-family homes on a lease-to-purchase basis for low- and moderate-income clients.
