| Benedict College intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to accomplish the following activities: (1) complete the build out of 8 to 13 incubator spaces in the Business Development Center to accommodate 8 to 13 start-up minority businesses and (2) construct 10 new affordable housing units on Read Street to promote homeownership in the target area for low- and moderate-income persons. The project will involve acquisition and redevelopment of real property, clearance and demolition, and provide assistance to facilitate economic development by providing technical and financial assistance for the establishment, stabilization or expansion of minority enterprises. The project will strengthen the target community by promoting economic development, homeownership and affordable housing.
