Overview
Norfolk State University in Virginia will receive a $500,000 grant from the Historically Black Colleges and Universities program. Together with the City of Norfolk and the Norfolk Redevelopment Housing Authority, Norfolk State will continue revitalization efforts in the neighborhoods of Brambleton, Huntersville, Church Street, and nearby public housing communities. The six key targets of this endeavor include new construction of single-family homes, the creation of a public housing data bank, establishing a small business incubator, offering more opportunities to complete high school, increased housing affordability, and health, education, and cultural programs for low- to moderate-income persons in the target communities.
