The Board of Regents, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, with the commitment of its community and city partners, will use its Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) New Directions grant to extend the impact of the existing University of Nebraska–Lincoln COPC (UNLCOPC), a project that effectively combines and coordinates outreach and research activities to address the city’s most urgent urban issues. The overall goal of this specific project is to further support and improve the quality of life in target neighborhoods by addressing the key issues of leadership, education, and health through the accomplishment of three overall UNLCOPC New Directions objectives: - Expand the leadership capacity in the target neighborhoods by encouraging activities that identify pathways and opportunities for individuals and organizations to exert their influence with or without authority.
- Inform Latino parents about extensive networks that impact success in the public schools for their children.
- Identify existing organizations and agencies in the community and connect them with neighborhood residents to address an important dimension of the neighborhood's everyday lives—health.
