| The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College will use its Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities grant to create a business incubator. The incubator will assist neighborhood revitalization, housing, and economic development of the low-income neighborhood and city by helping new companies start up and existing company expansions and a wide variety of training services to the residents residing close to the incubator. The impact will continue as companies "graduate" from the incubator and continue to grow and hire additional employees when they grow out of their years in the incubator. Five, 15, and 30 companies will be housed in the incubator in the first, second, and third years, respectively. The incubator will be an important part of a complementary project being developed, the International Trade and Technology Center.
