University of Hawaii / Maui Community College will use its Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Institutions Assisting Communities (AN/NHIAC) grant to increase homeownership and economic participation among the Native Hawaiian members of Maui County. The interrelated thrusts of this proposal intersect in a structure: (1) a symbol of cultural sensitivity and support; (2) an exemplar of reasonable, energy-efficient local housing and shelter; and (3) a source of services that welcome and reach out to enable, empower, and enhance the Native Hawaiians’ movement toward the goal.
