Overview
Tennessee State University intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to continue its assistance to low- and moderate-income persons in the North Nashville community and to aid in the prevention and elimination of blight along the Jefferson Street Redevelopment District. In partnership with the Metro Nashville Government, the Jefferson Street United Merchants Partnership, and Affordable Housing Resources, TSU will: rehabilitate the I-40E Jefferson Street underpass to create a safe, accessible, historically reverent gathering space, entitled the “Gateway to Heritage” Phase II project; and rehabilitate seven homes for low- to moderate-income elderly home owners in the target area.
