| Southern University at Shreveport intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to expand their role and effectiveness in addressing community development needs within the Martin Luther King Jr. community surrounding the institution. Specifically, these funds will be used to: expand the capacity of existing business incubator to include a new site in the Martin Luther King community; 2) provide home ownership training and counseling to low-income residents; 3) conduct entrepreneurial training for youth; and 4) provide training for leadership development for leaders of low-income housing complexes.
