| Southern University at Shreveport (SUSLA) intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to undertake the following four activities: build the capacity of the university-organized community development corporation; implement commercial and residential development in the Martin Luther King neighborhood; strengthen and expand microenterprise business development activities; and build capacity of community-based organizations. Through the collaborative efforts of the university and its partners, SUSLA intends to continue to serve as a resource for technical assistance and training for aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses. Additionally, the university will improve its outreach services to community and faith-based organizations as well as assist in bridging the digital divide in the inner-city neighborhoods.
