| Rust College intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to provide service and technical assistance to Holly Springs, Marshall County, and North Mississippi through its Rust College Community Development Corporation (RCCDC). The objectives of this project are to combine the resources and efforts of RCCDC and its partners to promote neighborhood redevelopment and revitalization by acquiring, rehabilitating, and selling six substandard homes on Martin Street to low- and moderate-income residents of the target area; providing technical assistance and guidance on business development and operation to the property and business owners of the target area and the North Mississippi District; providing homebuyer education and fair housing counseling to first-time homebuyers and low- and moderate-income residents of the target area; and providing community outreach support for the healthcare initiatives devoted to eliminating health disparities disproportionately affecting African Americans.
