| Cankdeska Cikana Community College (CCCC) intends to use its Tribal Colleges and Universities Program (TCUP) grant to complete a critical expansion of its facility by providing a new building to house the agricultural science programs. This expansion will provide increased opportunities for students in both the types of agricultural classes offered and in the student experience in courses. The facility will be built at the CCCC campus located in Fort Totten, North Dakota, on the Spirit Lake Reservation, and will include lecture and laboratory classroom space and a garage area for equipment such as tractors, seeders, and so forth. This project will facilitate student pursuit of agricultural careers, which will increase the Tribe’s ability to effectively utilize its land base for production. Further, students will provide outreach to the community by teaching community members how to plant and care for home gardens.
