| Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, will use its $397,841 Community Outreach Partnership Center grant to revitalize the City of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, to its once thriving community by addressing the following three urban issues: workforce and economic development; education and crime prevention; and community organizing. In regard to workforce and economic development, the university will train 300 Duquesne City youth in workforce preparation and match 150 youth with internships/jobs, engage 350 adults in workforce seminars, and match 75 with internships. In regard to education and crime prevention, the university will train 100 youth in leadership by providing them a mentor, tutor 500 elementary school students via America Reads/Counts, and provide 900 youth with economic education via the Junior Achievement curriculum. In regard to community organizing, the university will design, develop, and maintain a community Web site for Duquesne City and train 30 nonprofit leaders in Duquesne City via comprehensive nonprofit management training.
