Overview
The University of Alaska Fairbanks, Kuskokwim Campus (KuC) intends to use its Alaska Native/Native Hawaiian Institutions Assisting Communities (AN/NHIAC) grant to integrate the strengths of the Yup’ik Eskimo culture with technological and business training to develop economic sustainability for low- to moderate-income individuals. Collaborating with nine regional partners and the Yupiiy Piciryarait Cultural Center, KuC plans to develop workshops, training, and festivals that honor Native culture and lead to economic development. This project will focus on the uniqueness and strength of Yup'ik traditions and facilitate their technological transformation into small businesses with e-commerce capabilities.
