| Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) intends to use its COPC grant to address the urgent needs of the Happy Hill and Belview neighborhoods. By establishing a WSSU COPC, the Center for Community Safety (CCS) will take a much larger role in community revitalization as a means of sustaining neighborhood stability. The CCS will address the needs of the target area in a number of ways, including: 1) establishing branches strategically located in Happy Hill; 2) educating and empowering residents on home-buying issues; 3) training and equipping residents with the tools to revitalize their neighborhood; and 4) developing activity programs for youth that will help reduce crime.
