| Winston-Salem State University is proposing to continue providing services in the Columbian Heights community of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The university's goal is to expand its role and effectiveness through the S.G. Atkins Community Development Corporation (CDC) to impact the quality of life for residents in the Columbian Heights area. Proposed activities include increase capacity of the S.G. Atkins CDC; complete phase II of the Excelsior Street revitalization project; increase homeownership through the Home Smart Program; implement a community empowerment program within the area; increase housing and economic development activities for low-income residents; and develop community-based programs and outreach services.
