| Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) grant to expand activities started by the Simon Green Aikens Community Development Corporation (SGACDC), an outreach arm of the university that was established in 1998 to initiate community revitalization. WSSU proposes to continue the following activities: 1) Affordable housing development; 2) homebuyer education; and 3) credit counseling. The university also proposes to implement a business incubator feasibility study; small business loans and training for entrepreneurs in the target area; and post-purchase counseling and delinquency prevention. Also, SGACDC will consult with a project manager to expedite construction related activities.
