| Using a $550,000 HBCU grant, Southern University at New Orleans, in partnership with the Southern University and A&M College System, the State of Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Clifton C. James & Associates, and the Urban Design Research Center, will expand and enhance its role in addressing the community development needs and neighborhood revitalization of the Bienville Corridor and its Catchment Area. These areas have been identified in the City’s Consolidated Plan as having critical needs in terms of blighted housing requiring rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements, community reinvestment, homeownership, and increased/improved employment opportunities to stabilize the neighborhood and other related needs (school, parks, service facilities, etc.).
