| Point Park University intends to use its COPC grant to revitalize and racially integrate the nearby community of McKees Rocks. McKees Rocks is a community rich in social and physical assets, but it has endured decades of housing segregation in its public housing communities and the related problems of poverty, low educational attainment, and a large share of housing and commercial vacancies. Point Park will partner with the Community Advisory Council (a well-established community organization) to provide a comprehensive set of services for the community Focus on Renewal program. Program objectives include designing and launching a new cultural arts center, assisting the community with securing economic development assistance from businesses and governmental organizations, and focusing a significant investment in service learning for the community.
