| Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwa Community College will receive a Tribal Colleges and Universities Program grant of $600,000 to expand the college library. The need for a new library facility has been identified by library patrons, college employees, external evaluator, and the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation team. The college library is chartered and recognized by the State of Wisconsin, as a public library serving the greater Lac Courte Oreilles community. Currently the library is 2,500 square feet and the holdings have reached the capacity of the space causing older books to be placed into storage to make room for new acquisitions. With the support of this grant the college will achieve the following goals: renovate 3,000 square feet of existing campus space to accommodate the relocation of staff and program offices; raze an unhealthy, existing campus building to make room for new library construction; and add 2,000 square feet to the new library.
