Overview
Otero Junior College intends to use its Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities (HSIAC) grant to open the Business Innovation Center (BIC), which will provide a business incubator with entrepreneurial training and local economic development assistance. The center will help residents achieve success in business start-up, continuation, and expansion, while also providing homeownership counseling and assistance. Space within the BIC will be utilized in three ways: as a business incubator; as an economic development office; and as an office for the Tri-County Housing and Community Development Corporation (TCH&CDC). This final use will provide TCH&CDC their sole physical presence in the community of Rocky Ford, Colorado, where many residents are eligible for Tri-County’s services.
