| San Jacinto College North intends to use its Hispanic-Serving Institutions Assisting Communities (HSIAC) grant to implement its project, "Empowering the Citizens of Galena Park." The project will focus on four prevalent community issues: sub-standard housing; low-income levels because of a lack of a skilled workforce; few locally owned businesses; and aging Anglo community leadership. These needs will be addressed by the project’s four primary activities: housing refurbishing, remodeling, and finance; training in the construction trades; small business entrepreneurship training; and training in leadership.
