| The University of South Carolina Upstate (USC Upstate) in collaboration with 10 community partners will use its Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) New Grant to address some of the problems facing Spartanburg’s Southside communities. They propose to focus on the following three areas: improving health; improving education; and improving housing, neighborhoods, and community development. USC Upstate will initiate a total of 14 activities under these focus areas, a program that will facilitate better health, more educational opportunities for all ages, unique programs in the fine arts and global education, job training initiatives, internships and service-learning opportunities, summer camps, and a youth leadership institute.
