| The Niagara University will use its Community Outreach Partnership Centers (COPC) New Grant to improve the quality of life for Niagara Falls, New York, residents. To do so, they will initiate and support asset-based, targeted activities in partnership with community leadership, that address the urgent, multidirectional urban problems of: community capacity building; economic development and employment; and environmental justice and health. Through these focus areas, a multifaceted team of university/community partners will conduct activities with measurable outcomes and tangible impact. The community targeted for this COPC, the Niagara Falls Renewal Community, suffers from extreme economic challenges, high poverty, unemployment, environmental issues associated with the chemical industry, and unique border control matters and homeland security concerns.
