| Morris College intends to use its Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Category II grant to expand its capacity to empower, support, and improve the predominantly African-American North Sumter neighborhood, a Sumter City neighborhood with high housing needs. The college will build and sell a minimum of three new affordable, quality homes to low- to moderate-income people who seek homeownership; and rehabilitate a minimum of six deteriorating homes owned and occupied by low-income persons in the target area, at no charge to them.
