| Case Western Reserve University, in partnership with Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College, will address the needs of five Cleveland neighborhoods. Three of these neighborhoods--Fairfax, Hough, and Glenville--are in the city's Supplemental Empowerment Zone (EZ). In addition, the HOPE VI neighborhood and the St.Clair-Superior neighborhood will be included in the Community Outreach Partnership Centers grant work.
Activities to be undertaken include: - Building the staff capacity of empowerment zone organizations through training and mentoring.
- Creating a career path for residents in community development and family development.
- Providing assistance to the five "business organizers" housed in community development organizations in their efforts to provide EZ employers with access to capital and technical assistance.
- Establishing at least 150 community service jobs a year for community residents in community based organizations.
